X — the social media platform owned by Elon Musk — experienced a major global outage on Monday, affecting users across multiple countries including India and the United States.
According to outage-tracking service Downdetector, reports in India surged to over 25,000 around 7:00 pm IST, while more than 23,000 users in the US also reported problems.
Users complained they could not:
- Load posts
- Access timelines
- Use core platform features
The company has not yet issued an official explanation for the disruption.
The platform — acquired by Musk in 2022 for $44 billion — rarely faces large-scale outages compared to some competitors, making the disruption notable.
