Actor Prashant Narayanan stirred debate in Bollywood by sharply criticising Kartik Aaryan’s acting skills, saying the Chandu Champion star is “one of the most terrible actors” and survives mainly due to his luck and parental support.
What Prashant Narayanan Said
In a recent conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Narayanan — known for roles in Murder 2 and Ghost — was blunt when asked about contemporary actors.
He said he felt Kartik Aaryan lacked strong acting ability, but acknowledged his success was partly down to luck and persistence. According to Narayanan, Aaryan is “only surviving because of his parents’ blessings” and has a “non-communicative” style that seems boosted by people around him.
Narayanan also said he liked Aaryan’s performance in his debut film Pyaar Ka Punchnama but was unimpressed with many of his later roles.
Audience And Industry Reaction
When questioned why audiences continue to support Aaryan’s films despite such criticism, Narayanan suggested that viewers might be “laughing at” rather than “laughing with” his performances — a remark that has sparked discussion online.
The comments have reignited debates among fans and industry observers about talent, luck and perception in mainstream Hindi cinema. Some see Narayanan’s remarks as honest, while others see them as unnecessarily harsh.
Kartik Aaryan’s Recent Work
Kartik Aaryan has been active in Hindi films with releases like Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera and upcoming projects including Naagzilla, where he plays a shape-shifting naagman, and a new romantic film with filmmaker Anurag Basu.
Despite mixed critical reactions to his performances, Aaryan has a strong fan following and a slate of high-profile projects in the pipeline.
