India’s newest airport begins commercial services on December 25 with 23 daily departures and key airline partners
- Launch Date & Window: The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) will begin commercial operations on December 25, 2025.
- Operating Hours Initially: For the first month, the airport will operate between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m, handling up to 10 flight movements per hour, with 23 scheduled daily departures.
- Inaugural Arrival: The first plane to land at NMIA will be an IndiGo flight from Bengaluru, scheduled for 8:00 a.m. on Christmas Day.
- First Outbound Flight: Shortly after the inaugural arrival, an IndiGo flight departs for Hyderabad at 8:40 a.m. from NMIA.
Airlines and Destinations
- Akasa Air: Will begin operations on December 25. Their first flight from New Delhi to Navi Mumbai departs at 5:25 a.m.
- IndiGo: Also starting services from December 25, connecting NMIA to 10 Indian cities including Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, North Goa (Mopa), Nagpur, Cochin, Jaipur, and Mangaluru.
- Other Airlines: In the initial phase, Akasa Air, IndiGo, and Air India Express will operate from NMIA, connecting it to 16 major domestic destinations.

Future Growth
- From February 2026, NMIA plans to expand operations to round-the-clock, increasing daily departures to 34.
- The airport is being developed in phases; the first phase includes one runway and a terminal that can handle 20 million passengers annually.
- NMIA was built under a PPP model by Adani Airports and CIDCO.
