Diljit Dosanjh Records for Kantara Chapter 1, Says He Felt a Deep Spiritual Connection to the Film
What Happened: Diljit and Kantara’s Spiritual Bond
Actor-director Rishab Shetty recently revealed that singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh canceled one of his live shows just to rewatch Kantara — a film he connected with deeply on a personal and spiritual level.
“Woh bhi mere jaise bahot bade Shiv bhakt hai,” said Rishab, calling their collaboration a divine connection.
Rishab made the revelation during a News18 interview while promoting Kantara Chapter 1, the prequel to his National Award-winning film.
How Diljit Came On Board for ‘Bole Re Kantara’
Rishab shared that while finalizing the music for Kantara Chapter 1, he was keen on getting a non-Kannada singer with a strong and soulful voice to sing the Hindi version of the “Rebel Song.”
“I suddenly thought of Diljit, but I couldn’t remember his name at first,” Rishab laughed. “Once I remembered, I told my producer and composer that his voice would be perfect. Everyone got excited.”
Diljit’s Unexpected Gesture
When Rishab contacted Diljit’s team, he was in for a surprise.
“His manager told me that Diljit had cancelled his show and took his entire team to rewatch Kantara. He really loved the film and wanted to be part of it,” said Rishab.
Within days, Diljit recorded the track at YRF Studios, and after the session, requested a private conversation with Rishab.
“He spoke to me about his emotional connection to the film. He said the energy in Kantara aligned with his beliefs as a Shiv bhakt. It felt divine,” Rishab recalled.

He also posted a behind-the-scenes video from the recording session with Rishab at YRF.
