VIDEO: Cyclist collides with a motorcycle and goes from third place in the Tour of Flanders to the hospital

Julian Alaphilippe ended up with fractures to his right hand.

In recent months, a large number of accidents have been recorded in the highest circles of cycling, from a multiple crash , to a fall from a bridge or an accident caused by a bottle , it has become clear that this discipline on two wheels is a one of the riskiest in the world.

This weekend, the Tour of Flanders witnessed another tragic incident when French rider Julian Alaphilippe , who was in third place in the competition, crashed a safety motorcycle while trying to pass the leaders.

After the brutal fall, the French world champion had to abandon the race and be hospitalized because he fractured his right hand, as his Deceunick team announced in a press release: “Julian Alaphilippe collided with a motorcycle and (…) he was transported to the Renaix hospital, where X-rays showed metacarpal fractures 2 and 4 of his right hand ”.

The French cyclist will be operated on Monday in northern Belgium.
