Sheikh Hasina Rejects Death Verdict as “Biased”; Vows to Continue Her Fight

Former Bangladeshi PM, in exile, calls tribunal ruling politically motivated and pledges not to back down

Exiled former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has strongly condemned the death sentence handed down by the International Crimes Tribunal, calling the verdict “biased.”

In her first public reaction following the ruling, Hasina accused the tribunal of carrying out a politically motivated trial. She claimed the process lacked fairness and impartiality, insisting she will continue her political mission despite the verdict.

Hasina also delivered a defiant message to her supporters:

“I am alive … I will live … I will support the people of the country.”

She urged party loyalists not to be “nervous” about the court’s decision, and stressed that she believes “everything will be accounted for.”

Her allies have labeled the verdict a “mock trial,” accusing the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus of using the tribunal to eliminate her political influence.
