“Relax, Trump”: Teen Activist Greta Thunberg Strikes Back Nearly a Year Later
The ecologist gave the president his own medicine in an especially tense moment for him, who has asked to stop the vote count
Climate activist Greta Thunberg on Thursday returned an attack by the president from December last year to Donald Trump . The teenager did so in response to the tweet in which the president asked to “stop the count” and used the same words that he had thrown against her.
“Very ridiculous. Donald Trump must work on his anger management problem , then go to a good old movie with a friend! Relax, Trump! ”Thunberg tweeted, using even the same punctuation marks the president wrote nearly 11 months ago.
The activist’s message came at an especially tense moment for Trump , who sees his rival Joe Biden come forward as new results are known. And that he is using the legal route and rhetoric to try to discredit the vote counting and the American electoral system.
Thunberg’s relationship with Trump, who pulled the United States out of the Paris Agreement to avoid making any climate commitments, has always been strained. At least in the networks.
When Trump published the message against her in November, Time magazine had just chosen the activist as Person of the Year , a choice that Trump found “ridiculous.”
Earlier this year, during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Greta’s gaze at the president went viral . And in her tough speech, Greta called on world leaders to “start listening to science,” something Trump constantly avoids.
Thunberg, who had never entered partisan preferences, did so last October to ask for the vote for Biden .
“From a climate perspective, [the Democrat’s proposal] is far from sufficient and, of course, many of you supported other candidates. But, I mean… you know… damn! Get organized and get everyone to vote for #Biden, “he asked.
