The Former President will go to Philadelphia to host Joe Biden’s first campaign event on October 21.
Former President Barack Obama will hold his first campaign act with his former Vice President, Joe Biden , on Wednesday, October 21 in Philadelphia , in the final weeks of the presidential campaign.
Biden’s campaign reported that additional details will be provided later on where the campaign event will take place in Philadelphia.
Pennsylvania is an important state on the battlefield for Biden and Trump in the 2020 election.
The ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and the fact that Biden’s campaign has prioritized security and avoided large gatherings, ensures that the scene will look very different from the last time Obama held a presidential campaign rally in town.
On the last day before the 2016 election, he and Michelle Obama campaigned alongside Bill and Hillary Clinton in front of thousands of supporters on the Independence Mall.
Obama has been urging voters to participate in elections before, but has stayed away from the presidential campaign for long periods this year. He was wrapping up his presidential memoirs, due out next month, and he was also giving Biden and other Democrats room to present their own arguments on the 2020 election.
While the Biden campaign has yet to announce the details of Obama’s speech, it likely looks much more like a more recent appearance in Philadelphia: Obama’s scorching anti-Trump speech , delivered from an empty room at the Museum of the American Revolution during the Democratic National Convention.
