Guillermo Ochoa plans to retire from the Mexican National Team after Qatar 2022
America’s goalkeeper dreams of going to his fifth World Cup.
Guillermo Ochoa announced his plans with the Mexican National Team in the medium term. The goalkeeper wants to retire from El Tri after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
If the current goalkeeper of America is summoned to said World Cup, it would become his fifth participation in the World Cup, since he attended Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018, the latter two as a starter.
“Qatar will be my last World Cup, my farewell to the National Team ,” Guillermo Ochoa said in an interview with CNN.
In case of attending Qatar, Ochoa would equal Antonio “La Tota” Carbajal and Rafa Márquez, although both played in the five World Cups to which they were summoned.
“After many years of being in the national team, I am proud to represent your country; not everyone has the privilege, ”said the goalkeeper, who also highlighted the fact that he has four titles in the Gold Cup.
“Not many footballers have the opportunity to represent their country and win titles. Four that correspond to our area, first you have to play them and then you have to win them ”.
