Florida Election Dispute Continues: Poll Gives Trump Edge Among Older Voters

Biden is still ahead of the president across the state, but not by much

Democrat Joe Biden slightly outperforms President Donald Trump among potential Florida voters , but among older adults the Republican leads and among Latinos the advantage for the Democrat is not as wide , according to a poll released Wednesday by St. Pete Polls.

Biden maintains a slight margin of advantage over Republican Trump, with 49% and 47% respectively , according to the survey requested by AARP, a non-profit organization with more than 38 million members and dedicated to those over 50 years old .

However, among those over 70, Trump scores 21 points behind the Democrat (59% – 38%) , contradicting recent versions of a Biden rebound among these adults.

Former Vice President Barack Obama (2009-2017) fares best among voters ages 50 to 69 , a segment in which they prefer him by an 11-point margin (54% – 43%).

The Republican also dominates among white voters (57% – 40%) while Biden does , predictably, among African Americans (86% – 8%), and among Hispanics, but in a much lower proportion than other polls. (54% – 43%) .

The poll was conducted through phone calls to 2,215 potential Florida voters last Sunday and Monday, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2 points.

Biden today leads the Republican by an average of 9 points in national opinion polls , according to the specialized portal Real Clear Politics, and in Florida that distance is 2.7 points in favor of the former vice president.

The elections, which will take place on November 3, have nevertheless begun with early voting in some states and especially with the vote by mail.

In Florida as of this Wednesday, 1.9 million people have voted , including 967,088 Democrats, 564,455 Republicans, 363,764 independents and 21,778 from other minor parties, according to the Florida elections division.
