A Florida woman in labor stopped to vote on her way to the hospital

A determined Orange County woman is becoming famous in America after she made her husband stop to vote … even though she was in labor

A woman in labor made her husband stop on the way to a Florida hospital for the birth of their child to make sure she could vote before delivery.

Karen Briceno González , an employee of the Orange County Supervisor of Elections, said she was processing the ballots around 2:30 pm Tuesday when a man with his wife’s driver’s license entered.

The man explained that his wife was outside in the car and wanted to cast her vote.

“I told her, ‘We need her to vote here,’ and she basically told me that that would be a problem because she refuses to go to the hospital until she votes,” Briceno González told WKMG-TV .

Briceno González said he initially brought a mail-in ballot to the woman, but she rejected it. “She said ‘No, no, no, I have to fill it out right now,” the election official recalled.

The official waited while the woman completed the ballot. “Then the woman in labor filled out her ballot, while breathing slowly and in a controlled manner,” Briceno González told WESH-TV .

The official admitted that this was an unusual incident for election employees . “It was a strange situation, but she wanted to vote, and that was her right as a US citizen,” said Briceno González.

Election officials said they plan to send the woman a baby outfit that says “First Vote” as well as some “Future Voter” stickers.
